Grace McKenna
Hey! I'm Grace and I am a 1st year student in the DPT program. I am from Morristown, New Jersey and went to the University of Notre Dame (Go Irish!) for undergrad where I was a Psychology and Pre-Health Sciences major. I quickly found the importance of connecting the mind and body together through exercise and being outdoors. I love how exercise can bring people together and decrease stress. I really enjoy the community that comes with being active and am so excited to be part of the Medicine in Motion team where I can continue to do just that! I particularly enjoy running, hiking, tearing it up on any IMLeagues team, and cheering on my peers and Duke sports!

Hannah johnston
Hi! I’m Hannah, a 3rd year medical student at Duke. I was born in Nashville, TN, but consider Houston, TX my hometown, and I went to college at WashU in St. Louis. I have always loved being active in whatever shape that takes on, and sports have always been one of my main sources of community and mental wellness. I grew up playing tennis and played through college, but I spend a lot more of my time now training for local, regional, and national ninja warrior competitions. I am also always down to hike, run, rock climb, or try pretty much any sport, and I love the new friendships that you can build through being active! I can’t wait to continue sharing my passion for activity with the Duke community!

Julie Gu
Hey! I'm Julie and I am a 2nd year student in the OTD program. I grew up in Columbia, MO and Greensboro, NC and went to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Go Heels!) for undergrad where I studied Neuroscience and Exercise and Sports Science. I quickly found how helpful motion was for me to mitigate stressors and boost my mood and fell in love with running and being outdoors. Now, I enjoy the community that comes with being active and challenging myself to try new activities. I can't wait to share my passion for movement through this team!

Karleigh Derleth
Hi everybody! My name is Karleigh Derleth, and I am a third year DPT student at Duke! I have always been active in a variety of sports including volleyball, basketball, and soccer as well as show choir. In college I was able to learn how to weight lift properly and ended up getting really into yoga, both hot and normal. I am from the Midwest, so it is nice to be able to go for hikes whenever I want here in North Carolina! I have found such incredible support and love through these active communities, and I am so excited to share that with others by being a part of this awesome team. I look forward to sharing new experiences with other like-minded individuals!

Katelyn Dohler
Hi!! My name is Katelyn, and I’m a second year medical student at Duke! I’m originally from the Chicago suburbs and went to Vanderbilt University for undergrad. I ran cross country and track & field throughout middle & high school and still enjoy running distance road races, especially marathons! I also love cycling, hiking, weightlifting, yoga, and anything that gets me outside. Movement and fitness have been essential to my personal wellbeing and happiness, and I’m so excited to share this with all of you! I can’t wait to help grow Duke’s Medicine in Motion community together. :)

Li Chen
Hey y’all! I’m Li, a third-year DPT student with a love for adventure, movement and travel. I'm East Coast born and raised, but five years in LA turned me into a certified West Coast girlie. LA has my heart (where else can you hike and hit the beach in one day?). I'm a 300-hour registered yoga teacher and spin instructor who loves EDM and getting people moving to a beat. I just tackled the Grand Canyon in Oct 24', and next up is Mount Fuji! I've always felt free to be myself with the Medicine in Motion fam and I hope you'll join us and find your own mountains to climb!

Maja Jankovic
Hey everyone! My name is Maja Jankovic and I am a third-year DPT student at Duke. I am from Serbia, and I came to the USA as a freshman to play collegiate volleyball. Other than volleyball, I love playing soccer, basketball, tennis, and pickleball. I also enjoy running and hiking. In my free time, I like to stay active, explore new restaurants, and coffee shops, as well as spend time with my friends. I am excited to be part of the Medicine in Motion team and am looking forward to meeting new people!

Megan Zhao
Hello hello! I’m Megan and I’m a second-year medical student at Duke. Before moving to North Carolina for college, I spent the entirety of my childhood in Shanghai, China, where I played rugby and softball with my high school teams. Since then, I’ve discovered a love for weightlifting, boxing, hot yoga, and learning how to balance on my hands. All of these physical outlets have helped me learn that being strong is beautiful, and that my body is capable of far more than I realized. I can’t wait to discover new ways to move with members of the Duke community and beyond!

Michael Aiduk
Michael is a MD-PhD student at Duke. He loves team sports (most recently played intramural basketball and ultimate frisbee). He enjoys running, weight training, golf, snowboarding, table tennis, chess, and the sport of marathon Star Wars viewing. When medical school moved virtual during the beginnings of the COVID-19 pandemic, Michael maintained connection and a bit of normalcy via MM Zoom workouts with classmate and fellow MM leader Chris. Michael really appreciated these workouts, and is now excited to help foster community, inclusion, and philanthropy at the Duke MiM chapter.

Michael Ivey
Hello! My name is Michael Ivey, and I am a current MS4 at Duke Med. I am originally from a very rural area in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Growing up, I was constantly outside: I loved fishing, hunting, and I played basketball, football, tennis, and ran track. As an undergraduate at the University of Michigan, my interest in organized sports transitioned towards weightlifting, hiking, and encouraging my friends to take a work break to even just take a walk with me outdoors. I also am a chatter box who loves making fitness unintimidating. My goal is to help people find what they enjoy so that they can use fitness as a stress reliever – not inducer. Although I am new to the Durham area, I look forward to building a stronger connection between the Duke Med family and the local community. Just remember that fitness should be fun, and you can eat that doughnut!!

Natasha Anders
Hi! I’m Natasha Anders, a second-year medical student at Duke Med. I’m originally from Southern California and completed undergrad at UCLA. My passion for dance started early with classical ballet, dancing in 14 nutcrackers and attending various summer intensives over the years. I was also heavily involved in my high school dance team and continued dancing at UCLA with Icarus Contemporary Dance Company. Now, as a medical student, I’m thrilled to be auditing ballet classes here at Duke and continuing my love for dance! Alongside dance, I grew up surfing and hope to make it out to the Outer Banks to get some good surf soon! I spent my gap year in O’ahu, Hawai’i and still find myself checking the surf reports out there! In Durham, I stay active with swimming, yoga, cycling, and hiking. I’m stoked to be a part of this team and to keep prioritizing motion in medicine!

Natasha Andreasen
Hello hello! My name is Natasha and I am a third year medical student here at Duke. I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah and spent my undergraduate years there as well. Back home, I would spend my free time outdoors as much as I could doing a variety of activities, including: camping, backpacking, hiking, water rafting, fly fishing, and, of course, skiing. The mountains and outdoors have always been a huge in maintaining my mental health and I was really worried, moving to a new state, I wouldn’t be able to find those times to get outside. That’s when I found Medicine in Motion! I’m extremely passionate about getting people outside and gaining exposure to outdoor adventures that can seem daunting and expensive! I’m excited to bring all the wonderful outdoor experiences to my Duke community!
