About the Event

2020 has been a year for the history books. With the holiday season quickly approaching, the UW chapter of Medicine in Motion has put together a series of races to help battle burnout among healthcare professionals and students. The majority of the proceeds from this event will go toward supporting local organizations such as Girls on the Run and the King Country Play Equity Coalition. Join us we sprint towards New Year’s Eve/Day together! The series will consist of four distances. Choose from one of the three distance options below, complete on or around Halloween, Thanksgiving, December holidays (Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa), and New Year’s Eve/Day, and record your activities to participate. The goal is to begin at any level from beginner to expert and advance your running capability throughout 2 months to run your longest distance around the new year.

Sign up is $15 and can be completed through the UWSOM Medicine in Motion webpage or by clicking the link HERE or below. Use a device and app to track your times and distances such as Strava, Under Armor, or Livestrong during the dates listed below. Join the official Strava HERE or by searching “UWSOM Medicine in Motion” on Strava. After participating, use this Google Survey to record your time and distance. Remember to take a screenshot of your activity on your chosen tracking app and add them to the survey after each run. After New Year’s Day, if you completed all four races, you will be entered into a random drawing to receive prizes such as winter running gloves, athletic socks, beanies, etc.

We welcome all students of the UWSOM to join. Additionally, we would like to invite all UWSOM faculty and their families to participate.

Distances:

•Option #1: 3km, 5km, 8km, 10km (6.2 miles)

•Option #2: 5km, 10km, 15km, 21km (13.1 miles = half marathon)

•Option #3: 10km, 21km, 30km, 42km (26.2 miles = marathon)

Running Dates:

•Halloween: 10/30 – 11/6

•Thanksgiving: 11/20 – 11/27

•Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa: 12/18 – 12/26

•New Year’s Eve/Day: 12/28 – 1/04
