University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville
Ben Dalkin is a second-year medical school student at the
University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville.
Ben is originally from Charlottesville, Virginia, where he
participated in a variety of sports including baseball, soccer,
and golf. He attended the University of Virginia for his
undergraduate education. While there he developed a love
for running and participated in intramural sports. Ben is very
excited to bring Medicine in Motion to the UofSC SOMG, as
he believes that fitness and community play pivotal roles in
providing patients with holistic care. He hopes to cultivate a
community of physicians that value lifestyle medicine in an
effort to promote both the well-being of doctors and patients
and also to combat burnout!
Grace is an M2 at The University of South Carolina
School of Medicine Greenville. Grace grew up in
Charlotte, NC where she played competitive soccer at
the club level throughout high school. Grace’s passion
for fitness continued throughout college where she
taught several group fitness classes and continues to
participate in running, cycling, weightlifting, and yoga.
She is excited to be a part of Medicine in Motion and
looks forward to sharing her love of fitness as a tool to
reduce stress and burnout among fellow classmates and
Hannah is a 2nd year medical student at University of
South Carolina School of Medicine. She grew up in
Annapolis, Maryland playing lacrosse and field hockey
and continued to play lacrosse as a club sport in college.
She graduated from the College of Charleston in 2015
and spent two years working as a public health associate
in chronic disease prevention. Hannah has a passion for
community heath and is eager to expand Medicine in
Motion to Greenville.
Kelty is a second-year medical student at the University of South
Carolina School of Medicine Greenville. Kelty grew up in Jupiter,
FL where she played many sports over the years including
lacrosse throughout high school. Kelty continued to play lacrosse
at the D1 level in undergrad at Presbyterian College. Kelty’s love of
sports and physical activity continued as she coached girls high
school lacrosse as well as enjoyed fitness classes before entering
medical school. This passion remains as she enjoys time at the
gym and weekly group runs with classmates. Kelty is very excited
to build on her love for fitness with her healthcare community as a new chapter of Medicine in Motion!
Shannon Smith is a second-year medical student at the
University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville. She
is originally from Maynard, Massachusetts where she participated
in many sports such as lacrosse, track and field, soccer,
basketball and ran road races! Shannon continued her love for
exercise at Clemson University by participating avidly in
intramural sports as well as daily fitness activities. She is very
excited to continue her love for fitness at UofSC SOMG by
bringing Medicine in Motion to its campus. Shannon believes that
the pillars of fitness, community, and philanthropy are a perfect
way to bridge students with practicing physicians to promote
holistic wellness. She hopes to foster a community that promotes
maintenance of a healthy lifestyle to create positive work relationships and combat burnout. We
are our first patients!
